11 Minutes

April 25, 2008

then there was rain. and i thank God for that much needed blessing from above. Haha.

i woke up to a chilly, windy, and refreshing morning. it beats waking up to a hot morning, being all sweaty and sticky is the worst way to start your day. i should know. being summer and all, every morning seems to be hotter than the previous one. Gaaaaaahh. i woke up in time for lunch. after some needed hot cocoa, i opted to spend the day in my room. it usually gets the best breeze during the rainy days.

i had my tito bring me a bunch of books that he could let be borrow for the summer, so as my brain won’t rot and shrivel up into nothing. i just finished the book i stumbled upon once upon a time in the Rustans Fully Booked. it was a bit more detailed than i expected it to be.

of course, i’m talking about 11 Minutes by Paulo Coelho.

for people who’ve read the book, you know what i’m talking about.

i never knew that so much thought are put into the work that prostitutes do. well, Maria at least. there’s this whole history of prostitution that was never brought up in any discussion that i had with anybody. maybe because it’s prostitution, but still. it’s kind of fascinating. there’s this whole hierarchy between prostitutes. the book also presented some of the demons and prejudice faced by not only the prostitutes themselves, but also the clients they attend to.

through the story, she learns the trick of the trade and hone her skills. if you know what i mean? Hahaha. being a different kind of woman every night, depending on her clients. she also discovers and learns about man’s very broad and sometimes twisted perspective on sex and love.

book isn’t only about sex, but i can assure you that there is a bit of it. Hahaha. but it’s also about Maria’s struggle to find the things which was deprived from her when she was growing up. Romance. Adventure. Money. and the hopes of bettering the lives of her mother and father back in Brazil. all of which she aquires with the help of Ralf Hart, a respected artist and so happens to become the love of her life. they help each other find oneself and develop as sexual beings, being passionate and free. and it all ends with a very romantic encounter in Paris.

. . .

i never knew that i would have this sort of appreciation for a book about a Brazilian prostitue in Switzerland.  Hahaha. it goes to show that..

"you should never judge the book by it’s very sexy cover." Haha.

. . .

i’m now flipping through the pages of For One More Day by Mitch Albom. it’s starts with a guy jumping from a water tower, and instantly sees his dead mother.

now who wouldn’t want to read about that.

seriously.

Ten random facts about me.

April 24, 2008

what the hell. i wasn’t tagged by anybody, but seeing that i clearly have no life and have nothing better to do, i might as well answer a bunch of surveys.

got this from Jo

Rules:
*Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves.
*Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
*At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.
*Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

TEN RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:

  1. I have yet to finish reading Wicked. I bought it last October and finished up to The Charmed Circle. The text is too small for me to appreciate. Hahahaha.

  2. I never close my eyes when I’m taking a shower.

  3. I’m currently using my very hot  DELL INSPIRON | 1501.

  4. I consider myself the least adventurous person when it comes to buying things. (My favorite icecream flavor is vanilla. I order buttered popcorn. My DS color of choice is white.)

  5. I’m still juggling between what course I should take in college. Medicine? Psychology? Funds? Haha.

  6. My bed is actually a sofa bed and it’s blood red.

  7. I’ll be turning 16 in 27 days.

  8. And my birthday gift of choice would be a Canon PowerShot G9 Digital Camera or a Nintendo Wii. (I’m just saying..if anybody would want to know.) Hahahaha.

  9. My favorite Grey’s Anatomy character would be Dr. Bailey. I just love "the Nazi".

  10. It took me about one and half hours to finish this survey. In that span of time, I’ve gone to the bathroom twice; I finished watching E!, and I ate my way through a bag of Ruffles. (original of course.)

TAGGED: Whoever wants to be because I wasn’t.

Hahahaha. seriously.

PBB down the drain

Pinoy Big Brother down the drain.  well, i think so anyway.

jologs as it may sound, and as true as it is, i’ve been hooked on the Pinoy Bog Brother mania since the get-go. (and for you who has no idea what PBB is, i presume that you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years. Pinoy Big Brother is this hit reality show where a bunch of people are stuffed in this house where they’re filmed and watched 24/7, for fanatics anyways.) from Season 1’s first airing to Teen Edition’s Big Night, i’ve watched it all. Hahahaha. i even bought some of their DVDs and watched it a couple of times. that’s because they weren’t just funny; they were hilarious. and i admit that i liked the drama between the housemates.

and they were REAL people.

i just can’t say the same for the Season 2 series.

a bunch of the things i loved about the earlier Season was kinda lost at the beginning of Season 2:

  • The People - - i just get the vibe that they would rather have future talents (go figure?!) than real people with captivating personalities and stories. and i don’t mean the overly dramatic teleserye-ish stories. in my opinion, it’s getting old. Hahaha.

  • The Show’s Simplicity - - i think that it got a bit more complicated than i wanted it to be. i mean come on? especially now, this would be the perfect time to rant about the latest installment or PLUS to the Teen Edition, the Guardians. the whole point of having the Teen Edition is to see how the housemates would react or thrive without their parents or guardians there with them. it’s about temporarily cutting off their lifeline and see what happens. but no, they had to have PLUSes. now the Guardians are the ones having all the conflict, making all the drama, and giving the housemates reasons to get voted out or voluntarily leave.

  • The Titles - - seriously. the nicknames or titles, whatever you wanna call it, is ridiculous. "The Itallion Stallion", "The Gentle Giant", and my freakin favorite "The Deaf Dreamer". i mean come on? seriously?

some of those things are lost in the show maybe because of the race for higher ratings or whatever. it’s just a shame. it used to be one of the greatest shows. don’t get me wrong, i still like it; it’s just nothing compared to the last Season, and sadly, not in a good way.

but there’s still chance for a little improvement. if they evict every Guardian right now, it might still be worth watching.

get it over with.  Hahahaha.

PS. from now on until the end of my days, "seriously" will be my word.

PPS. i declare Make Me a Supermodel the worst show in the history of television.

seriously.

Bored out of my mind

April 19, 2008

after long days without putting up an entry, i’m finally back. Hahaha. i sometimes find myself unable to access(the words?! Hahaha) my site. i don’t know if other i.ph-users are also experiencing the same things i have. from time to time, the "Internet cannot display.." keeps popping up, especially at night. which if sort of frustrating since my blog is the only outlet i have for creativity(?) during my not-so-productive summer.

so a big ARGH goes to whoever or whatever runs i.ph.

thoughts of transfering to another site keeps coming into mind.

then again, i love this site. Hahaha. and why leave it? not when i’m near my 100th entry. this 100th entry would be a little more special since this would be my 2B farewell entry; i’ve been putting it off for forever now. so if there would be a time to post it up, this would be a great time. Hahaha.

I BIG BIRTHDAY SHOUT-OUT to MICHAEL .

i know it’s a bit late, but what the hell. Hahahaha.

so yeah?

TALK IT OUT

Lance:

uh.. update?:))

ten:

hi jones!!!

Josefina.:

the lyrics make for a beautiful poem. how i wish my pc’s sound device would work already!

Sette:

waaa. love that song. :p

ten:

like kei, i’m a fan of both. but i can’t deny that HP is more well-written than the twilight series. :P but then again both of them got me hooked.

Josefina.:

it’s all a matter of opinion, really. some like HP, some prefer Twilight, the rest may like some other book or series. the comparisons are all quite subjective. that’s how it is, i suppose. doesn’t change anything. :P

Kei:

haha. i’m a fan of both series, so there’ no bias in my opinion. all i can say is how can a series at the top of this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_books#Claims_of_at_least_100_million_copies not trump a series not even on this list? oh well, maybe someday. :D

eaarl:

jones, reading your blog makes me miss those long entries. haha. anyway..

Josefina.:

sorry i bestowed a litany upon your chatbox. guess i should’ve posted on the comments area instead. teehee. :)

Josefina.:

you might’ve anticipated that i wouldn’t NOT comment — being a HARDCORE FAN(ATIC) of something would, most possibly affect your opinion on things other than what you’re drooling over. so, let fanatics speak of what they love, and NOT throw crap about what other people love, just because it’s different. and, no, i don’t think Twilight emphasizes on crap about controlling boyfriends and detachment from humanity — obviously, the hardcore HP fanatic merely scratched the surface. Twilight’s actually about the complexities of love, the complexities THAT GO with loving someone, and the strength and potency that love holds, regardless of its victim — at least, according to me. yes, that sounded CORNY, and yes, vampires, as far as the real world can tell, do not exist. but that’s my two cents in. fathom THAT! :P

Lance:

I like the layout:D

ten:

I missed you and I will miss you too. <3

ten:

500 people you meet in hell. First time ko marinig yun ah. It sounds interesting. haha! I might buy it. yess…you sold the book to me, jones!

Josefina.:

heey, keep in mind that I’m a friend who listens to friends’ problems, too! let’s trade sides whenever you may need to. :)

Josefina.:

magfi-feeling ako: if that message is for me, thank you very much. I’m blessed to have such beautiful, loving friends. cradle to grave. :)

Ice:

computer crap XD

chii:

HAHAHA! gets kita! yung sa mass. 10am kami. nagyon lang ata kami umupo sa harap dahil walang tao! :) ))

chii:

HAHAHA. Yes besh. I-shall-not-speak-anymore was my thing last Fri :) )))

Josefina.:

friendship thing IS going on overdrive. it’s that time of year. I’m really blessed to have friends like you and the gang. :)

chii:

best, parties are fuuun. SOMETIMES. hahaha! :) )
